Rugby Borough Council is committed to supporting tenants and residents who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing domestic abuse. Domestic abuse includes physical, emotional, psychological, sexual and economic abuse, as well as controlling or coercive behaviour. Children who see, hear, or experience the effects of domestic abuse are also considered victims under Domestic Abuse Act 2021. If you or someone you know is affected, help is available.
Detailed information on domestic abuse support services, including advice, emergency accommodation, and specialist support, is available on the Warwickshire County Council website: Warwickshire domestic abuse
For confidential support and advice about domestic abuse contact Warwickshire Against Domestic Abuse (WADA) – visit the talk2someone website or call the freephone helpline at 0800 408 1552
Calls from landlines should not appear on itemised bills but check with your provider if calling from a mobile.
If you're unsafe in your home and want to move out, call Rugby Borough Council’s Homelessness and Prevention Team on (01788) 533468 for advice on finding somewhere to live.
Always call the police on 999. If you are unable to speak, you can dial 55 when prompted to indicate you need help.
If you’re feeling unsafe, Rugby has a few Safe Places – including the Town Hall – where you can go for support in a safe and welcoming environment. These Safe Places, which also include libraries, community centres, and selected businesses, are dedicated to helping those in need.
The Town Hall is one of the key locations where you can find support and guidance in a welcoming and safe space.
You can find a full list of Safe Places across Rugby and Warwickshire on the Warwickshire County Council website: Warwickshire Safe Places
