Celebrate Rugby's parks and Have a Field Day
Celebrate Rugby's parks and Have a Field Day
COMMUNITIES across the borough can Have a Field Day this summer and celebrate Rugby's parks and open spaces.

Fields in Trust have made Rugby Borough Council an official partner of this year's Have a Field Day celebrations, which aim to encourage communities to make the most of green spaces.
The council has organised a Have a Field Day family picnic at Caldecott Park on Saturday 7 June, with a Rugby FM roadshow, live music, children's rides and side shows.
But the council this week urged communities across the borough to join in the celebrations and organise an event - be it a wildlife walk or a traditional village fete.
Fields in Trust was founded in 1925 and works to protect and promote green spaces for sport, play and recreation.
The trust awarded Rugby's Caldecott Park, Whitehall Recreation Ground, Avon Mill Recreation Ground, Whinfield Recreation Ground, and Alwyn Road and Featherbed Lane recreation grounds protected status in 2012 to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
But Have a Field Day celebrations can take place in any of the borough's parks or green spaces over the summer.
And Cllr Dr Mark Williams, Rugby Borough Council portfolio holder for sustainable environment, encouraged communities to get involved.
"We have wonderful parks and green spaces in Rugby and Have a Field Day is a perfect opportunity to bring communities together for a celebration.
"Whether you want to have a party, organise a sporting event, or simply enjoy a walk, I'd encourage everyone to make the most of the borough's green spaces this summer."
