RATT donationCllr Sally Bragg has supported both charities during her Mayoral year, raising a grand total of £3,725 through generous donations and the support of the community.

RATT, founded in the summer of 2015, supports young people in the borough who have a talent and passion for music, arts, academia, sport or entrepreneurism, providing grants, tutoring and opportunities to perform.

Young performers from the trust took centre stage at the major fund-raising event of Cllr Bragg's year in office - Showtime, the Mayor's Charity Gala, which took place in January at the BENN Hall.

In addition to performing at Showtime, youngsters from RATT also sang at the Civic Sunday service at St Andrew's Church and at a reception for civic leaders from across Warwickshire and the West Midlands.

Cllr Bragg's support for the Rugby-based Oral Health Foundation was inspired by the theme of her Mayoral year - oral hygiene.

The foundation works to improve oral health around the world through education and campaigns such as National Smile Month and Mouth Cancer Action Month.

During her Mayoral year, Cllr Bragg took a trip the town's Beehive Nursery with a dental nurse to teach children the importance of keeping teeth clean and regular visits to the dentists, and also presented prizes at Rugby Dental Care to the winners of a children's 'design a toothbrush' competition held during National Smile Month.

Oral Health FoundationCllr Bragg, who presented her cheque to the Oral Health Foundation this week at the start of this year's National Smile Month, said: "It has been an honour to be Mayor of Rugby for the past year, attending so many events and meeting so many members of our community.

"It has also been a fantastic opportunity to support and promote the work of Rugby Area Talent Trust and the Oral Health Foundation, and I'm delighted to have been able to make donations to both charities."
