Traffic now flowing as normal on Newbold Road following the fire.

UPDATE - 3.15pm

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service now has the fire under control.

The service's environmental protection unit has now arrived on the scene.

The Environment Agency has no concerns about the risk of air pollution from the fire, but plans to monitor the River Avon amid concern over possible pollutants in the run-off water from tackling the blaze.

Original Story

The blaze at Charles Trent Ltd, Avon Mill Lane, broke out shortly after 12.30pm.

Motorists have been advised to avoid Newbold Road. The road remains open, but traffic has been slowed due to hoses being laid across the road as firefighters use the water supply from the council's Hunters Lane depot.

Residents living nearby have been advised to stay indoors and close all windows. All residents have been urged to stay away from the area.

Emergency services have been joined at the scene by the Environment Agency, who are working to minimise the impact of the fire on the nearby River Avon.
