Visitors to the gallery's Christmas Festivities event can enjoy mince pies and mulled wine while learning to wrap Christmas presents with furoshiki.

The event has been inspired by the gallery's current exhibition, It's A Wrap - Japanese Furoshiki Past and Present.

The exhibition celebrates the unique art form of furoshiki, a square-shaped textile cloth for wrapping gifts and merchandise.

Christmas Festivities gives visitors the chance to wrap gifts with furoshiki under the expert guidance of Tomoko Fujimura, a textile artist and director of Ecoshiki.

A selection of Tomoko's own furoshiki can be bought at the event, together with other examples currently on sale at Rugby Visitor Centre, based in the gallery's foyer.

In addition to furoshiki, artist Michaela McMillian hosts a Christmas Decoration Workshop, where visitors can create hanging decorations from various paper folding techniques.

Places at the workshop cost £5, and should be booked in advance by calling (01788) 533201 (suitable for 16-years-old and over).

Rugby Community Choir perform during the evening to add an extra festive flavour to the event.

Christmas Festivities takes place at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum on Tuesday 16 December from 4pm to 6.30pm.
