Rugby Borough Council's response to COVID-19
Rugby Borough Council's response to COVID-19
Rugby Borough Council is working with NHS partners and other organisations within Coventry, Warwickshire and the wider West Midlands to take all the necessary steps to contain and delay the virus and to ensure we are well prepared for any potential spread.
Preventative measures
We have supplied or are in the process of providing hand soap and hand sanitiser to all our buildings, particularly those which are public facing like the crematorium and our reception areas.
We are also sharing messages with our workforce and residents as to how they can help minimise the spread of germs and the coronavirus in Rugby. These include:
- covering your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze
- put used tissues in the bin
- regularly wash your hands with soap and water
- try to avoid contact with people who are unwell.
You can follow the latest advice on the council's twitter and Facebook pages.
What is the council doing to minimise risk?
It is important to note that NHS services and Public Health are well prepared for outbreaks of infectious diseases such as COVID-19. Rugby Borough Council is also well prepared.
An internal Strategic Coordinating team has been established, along with a Tactical Delivery team. These teams meet at least weekly and feed into the weekly local resilience forum’s Strategic Coordinating Group (SCG) and the weekly Cabinet Office briefings.
Business continuity
We are making sure our business continuity plans are up to date and ready to activate should we need them. Business continuity planning includes enabling employees to work flexibly so that they can continue to deliver services without unnecessary travel or unnecessary contact with vulnerable staff or residents.
