Bin collections
The recycling (blue-lid bin) collections in Houlton due to take place last Thursday (5 December) have now been rescheduled for today (Wednesday 11 December).
Please leave your bins out for collection.
The funding will be used to accelerate the development to allow work to begin on site earlier than would otherwise be possible.
The development includes sheltered apartments, a wellness centre and bistro, and would potentially bring an electric vehicle car pool and charging station to the town centre.
It provides additional housing, brings the Grade 2* listed Herbert Gray college back into use and opens up an under-used part of town.
Cllr Jill Simpson-Vince, Rugby Borough Council portfolio holder for Growth and Investment, said: “I am thrilled that Rugby Borough Council has secured up to £2 million of government funding to speed up the development of Caldecott Square.
“With this funding and with planning permission already granted we will be able to bring forward the regeneration of one of our most important town centre sites.
“And, by investing in an electric vehicle car pool and charging facilities we will help residents do the right thing for Rugby by encouraging the switch to zero emission transport.”
With funding confirmed, Rugby Borough Council will liaise with the developers to finalise arrangements for the start of works.
