Change of council bank details

RUGBY Borough Council moves to a new bank on Monday 15 December.
08 December 2014
The move to Lloyds Bank means customers who pay the council by standing order need to amend the payment details.

Customers affected by the change include those who make regular payments for:
  • housing rent
  • council tax
  • business rates
  • car park season tickets

The council has sent a letter explaining the bank change to customers who regularly pay by standing order.

Importantly, customers who pay by Direct Debit remain unaffected by the change as transfers take place automatically.

The council took the decision to move banks after the Co-operative Bank - which the council has banked with for 11 years - announced plans to stop providing services to local authorities.

The council selected Lloyds Bank after conducting a full tendering process.

Cllr Helen Walton, Rugby Borough Council portfolio holder for resources and corporate governance, said: "The council has put a number of measures in place to make sure the move to a new bank affects as few of our customers as possible.

"However, customers who pay by standing order must change payment details as soon as possible.

"I'd encourage customers who pay by standing order to consider switching to Direct Debit and e-billing, which not only takes the hassle out of paying but also helps us cut down on the number of printed bills we issue."

The council's new account details are:

  • Sort Code: 30-00-02
  • Account Number: 00830939
