The Access to Emergency Health Care Provision task group will be looking at current emergency care options available for residents, how problems might be causing strains on the emergency services, and how the ambulance service is planning to protect Rugby’s residents in future.

Tom Kittendorf, Rugby Borough Council Chief Officer for Leisure and Wellbeing, said: “The council previously reviewed emergency health care services in 2021, where the ambulance service were able to share some of the challenges they were facing and their plans to improve resilience.

With some of those changes now in place, and with new emergency health care services available such as the new minor injury unit at UHCW, now is the time to see if emergency health care has improved.

“We are asking for individuals and organisations who have relevant evidence to get in touch with the task group.”

Residents needing emergency healthcare can currently attend minor injury units at St Cross and UHCW hospitals, attend the accident and emergency department at UHCW, or be referred to the Medical Assessment Unit at UHCW. They can also seek advice from 111 or call 999, which can also provide crisis support for mental health.

Interested individuals, businesses or organisations can contribute evidence to the task group by emailing scrutiny@rugby.gov.uk.
