Council to outline world cup plans

Rugby Borough Council is inviting representatives of Rugby-based businesses and organisations to attend an evening briefing about next year's Rugby World Cup.
08 October 2014

The briefing will be held at the Merchant's Inn in Rugby town centre on Thursday 23 October, at 5:30pm for 6pm. It will cover the opportunities arising from the town's official "proud home" designation awarded by the Tournament organisers and will also cover:

  • events and activities;
  • the visitor experience;
  • destination management and place marketing;
  • making the most of our visitors.

The briefing will particularly focus on opportunities for businesses and organisations to get involved.

Cllr Michael Stokes, Leader of Rugby Borough Council, said: "The world cup is one of the largest sporting events in the world. It's not likely to be held in the UK again for many years so it is vital that we make the most of the opportunity that next year's Tournament brings.

"The council has been preparing for some time and is now able to share more information about its plans.

"I'm very keen for businesses and organisations to get involved and this briefing will help them to understand how they can do just that."

Representatives of businesses or organisations who would like to attend the briefing must register in advance. More information and details of how to register are available at www.rugby.gov.uk/RWC2015.
