The Art Gallery and Museum hosts a Donation Day on Thursday 28 August, where residents can take along objects, documents and photographs linked to Rugby soldiers who fought in the Great War.

Residents can donate or loan items for an exhibition to commemorate the centenary of the start of the First World War.

The exhibition, which runs in November and again next April, forms part of the Art Gallery and Museum's Fall In project, which has secured £6,200 from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The project included the enlisting event which took place at the Art Gallery and Museum before Rugby's commemorative parade and service earlier this month, while in October the venue hosts a number of re-enactment workshops for school pupils.

Cllr Heather Timms, Rugby Council Portfolio holder for culture, said: "The Art Gallery and Museum wants to hear from residents who have something to share from the First World War - be it objects, letters, photographs or memories.

"The exhibition offers a wonderful opportunity for us to remember those who fought for our country during the Great War, and pay tribute to the brave Rugby men who went off to battle.

"It promises to give unique, personal insights into one of history's most important chapters."

The Donation Day at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum runs from 2pm to 4pm. A further Donation Day takes place on Thursday 27 November.
