Floral Webb Ellis Cup returns to the Proud Home

RUGBY'S floral tribute to the famous Webb Ellis Cup has returned to the Proud Home of the game.

And the floral trophy has a new home in the town centre in time for Rugby World Cup 2015 - on the corner of Warwick Street.

The iconic floral display was removed earlier this year while the revamp of the gyratory system took place.

It has now been restored to pristine condition ahead of the genuine Webb Ellis Cup's visit to Rugby next month.

The Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour visits the Proud Home on Sunday 16 August.

Fans have the chance to take a selfie with the game's greatest prize when it goes on display at Old Market Place from 9am to 12 noon.

The visit of the Webb Ellis Cup forms part of a packed programme of events ahead of the start of Rugby World Cup 2015 in September.

Cllr Lisa Parker, Rugby Borough Council portfolio holder for sustainable environment, said: "The floral tribute to the Webb Ellis Cup should prove a popular photo opportunity for visitors to the Proud Home of the game.

"It's just one of a host of improvements to the town centre the council has planned to make sure Rugby's ready to welcome visitors from all over the world during Rugby World Cup 2015."
