Get your skates on to help shape Brownsover park plans

RESIDENTS can have a say on £150,000 plans to revamp a Brownsover park.

The council has unveiled a draft plan for the refurbishment of the park off Hollowell Way, which includes a new skatepark, play equipment and multi-use games area for football and basketball.

The blueprint for the revamp was drawn up following consultations with community organisations and Brownsover residents, and now the council wants feedback from residents before finalising the plans.

Play equipment earmarked for the park's expanded play area includes a zip wire, climber with monkey bars, roundabout, see-saw, swings and a trampoline.

And skaters and BMX riders have been invited to join the design team for the new skatepark - with the council planning to set up a meeting between board and bike enthusiasts and a specialist skatepark design company.

Consultation forms detailing the draft plan have been distributed via schools and community organisations in Brownsover, and can be requested by calling the council's parks team on (01788) 533739 or emailing talkinthepark@rugby.gov.uk

Residents can also take part in the consultation on the council's website - www.rugby.gov.uk/hollowellpark

Cllr Lisa Parker, Rugby Borough Council portfolio holder for sustainable environment, said: "The council has worked closely with the Brownsover community to draw up the draft plan for the revamp of the park, but it's important we hear the views of residents before pushing ahead with the next stage of the project.

"It's a great opportunity for residents to help shape the final design of the park and help us deliver a green space which meets the needs of the community."

The council has scheduled work to start on the park revamp in the summer.
