Mayor delivers birthday card to centenarian Dorothy
Dorothy, a tenant at Rugby Borough Council's independent living complex at Stacey Court, was paid a visit by the Mayor of Rugby, Cllr Tom Mahoney.
The centenary celebrations on Thursday (17 January) saw Cllr Mahoney present Dorothy with a birthday card, while she received a card, flowers and a £100 Marks & Spencer voucher from the council's independent living team.
The milestone was also marked with the presentation of a Certificate of Recognition to Dorothy, a tribute to the role she plays in the Stacey Court community.
In addition to chairing the complex's community room committee, Dorothy organises fund-raising raffles, takes part in chair yoga sessions and calls the numbers for the community room's bingo.
Cllr Mahoney said: "Dorothy's a real inspiration and, with her quick wit and sense of humour, it's no surprise she's much-loved by everyone who lives at Stacey Court.
"It was a pleasure to pay her a visit and wish her a happy birthday, and meet so many of her family and friends."
