RAGM foyer works start

BUILDING works to the foyer of the Rugby Art Gallery, Museum and Library start this week.
03 October 2016

Work on installing the World Rugby Hall of Fame on the first floor of the building has been underway for some time, and the new archaeology gallery on the second floor is also in progress. The final phase of the works will involve reconfiguring the entrance, visitor centre and cafe areas, which starts on Monday 3 October.

The coffee shop will be relocated into a larger, purpose built facility where the gift shop is currently located, while the visitor information point and gift shop will move to the ground floor entrance area to the Hall of Fame. The atrium will include a feature installation, visible from outside the building.

Cllr Michael Stokes, Leader of Rugby Borough Council, said:

With a global visitor attraction opening in the building later this year, these works are the first visible evidence of the transformation that is taking place.

It is inevitable that the building work will cause some disruption to art gallery, museum and library visitors. However, the Hall of Fame will bring a major boost to the town centre, and I know that this prize will be worth the inconvenience."

Works to the entrance area will be phased to allow access to the building around the building works.
