Rugby Collection acquires Remfry watercolour

Dancers, one of Remfry's trademark large-scale watercolours, features in the latest Rugby Collection exhibition, which was curated by the Royal Academy of Arts' member and MBE.
David Remfry Selects - The Rugby Collection features more than 60 works selected from the collection of modern and contemporary British art, including pieces from Turner Prize winners Lubaina Himid and Gillian Wearing, and prestigious works from artists such as Claudette Johnson, Paula Rego and Eduardo Paolozzi.
The Rugby Collection was established by Rugby Borough Council in 1946 and now has more than 200 pieces.
Katie Boyce, Rugby Art Gallery and Museum's senior exhibitions and programming officer, worked with Remfry on both the Rugby Collection exhibition and We Think The World Of You, the artist's collection of pencil and watercolour portraits celebrating the uniquely personal relationship between a dog and its owner.
Both We Think The World Of You and David Remfry Selects draw to a close on Saturday (3 June), and Katie said Remfry's Dancers was a significant acquisition for the Rugby Collection.
"It's been wonderful to collaborate with David on hosting We Think The World of You and guiding him through the pieces in the Rugby Collection," Katie added.
"To acquire one of his signature pieces means the collection now features another leading light of modern and contemporary British art."
